Stay Aware
When you hit the stage, try to be aware of your body posture at all times. Top performers control their every gesture; nothing happens without thought and control. A lot of the time, nothing happens, which is a big part of having ‘presence’.

The rest of us tend to carry on doing the same involuntary gestures that we use in normal interaction. If the goal is to look relaxed and normal, you can keep doing this – but be aware of it. Don’t let your arms and hands flail around. Prowling around the stage can be effective, but it can also become a distraction. It is essential to be able to stand still when you want to. Plant your feet slightly apart, roughly in line with your shoulders, and then bend your knees slightly and drop your shoulders. If there is more than one of you on the stage, plan your physical interaction carefully.
